Desilting Solutions was engaged by Southern Downs Regional Council to remove approximately 1,000 m³ of silt from around the intake tower at Connolly Dam.
A floating pontoon dredge was used to extract silt to a depth of approximately 18 metres below water level. The material was pumped over a distance of more than 700 metres to the GeoTube location, with polymer dosing applied during transfer. The GeoTube was then allowed to dewater to a spadable consistency before the silt was disposed of.
With Connolly Dam serving as a vital drinking water source for the community, strict water quality standards were upheld throughout the project. The works were delivered efficiently, successfully, and without incident.
