Desilting Solutions was engaged by Brisbane City Council to remove approximately 700m3 of sediment from the sediment basin in the environmentally sensitive Keith Boden Wetlands.
A floating pontoon dredge was used to remove silt to a depth of approximately 2m across the entire sediment basin. The silt was treated with a polymer as it was pumped in to a GeoTube and allowed to dewater before being disposed of.
The works were conducted in Tusk Frog habitat, which is listed as a vulnerable species. As such, a high-risk species management plan was developed and implemented. Dredging was conducted under the guidance of a Fauna spotter/catcher and the project was completed without incident.
