Desilting Solutions was engaged by Bega Valley Shire Council to remove approximately 500m³ of sediment from the leachate organics dam at the Merimbula Waste and Recycling Depot.
An unmanned floating pontoon dredge, operated via a cable and winch system, was used to extract silt and sediment from a polyethylene lined dam. The material was dosed with polymer during pumping into a GeoTube, where it was dewatered prior to disposal.
A height differential of more than 25 metres between the dam and the GeoTube location presented a significant challenge, which Desilting Solutions successfully addressed using intermediate booster pumps.
Despite the dam’s restricted access, our versatile and modular dredging equipment enabled us to deliver a seamless solution without delay or compromise.
